1. Impeller speed:

Since the drill cuttings are not expected to be further pulverized during the mixing process, the rotation speed of the agitator used should not be too high, and the strength should be selected between 50 and 60 rpm. For mud mixers exceeding 60 rpm, users are advised to be cautious.

2. Motor power:

At present, there are agitators with 5.5kw, 7.5kw and 11KW motor power commonly used in the market. The guiding ideology of its design is that it can still be started after the impeller is shut down and buried by the grit. Therefore, a suitable motor power matching should be selected. 3. The sealing problem of the agitator:

According to the existing experience, it is not suitable to use the end face seal for the shaft of the drilling fluid agitator due to the very bad working conditions, and it is also difficult to adapt to the general packing seal. At present, the more successful is the use of multiple sets of V-shaped packing, which has self-sealing performance and self-rewarding ability, and will not cause lubricant leakage problems without maintenance or adjustment for a long time.

4. The choice of agitator impeller:

There are many types of mud agitator impellers, but it must be noted that a small-diameter blade, high-speed mud agitator must have a small circulation volume and a large shear force, so it is not suitable for the purpose of solid-phase suspension of drilling fluid. Therefore, the impeller diameter should generally be larger.

Secondly, the turbine-type impeller that needs attention has been widely used in drilling fluid agitators, of which the open-type turbine type is good. Since there is no middle disc part, it will not hinder the convective mixing of the upper and lower liquid phases of the blade.
