The role of drilling fluid desilter

Drilling fluid desilter is an important part of the three-stage mud purification equipment for drilling fluid, and it is often used in combination with the shale shaker. Mainly use 5-inch and 4-inch hydrocyclones, whose function is to separate solid particles in the drilling fluid with a particle size in the range of 15-47μm. Such a drilling fluid desilter is widely used in oil drilling rigs, especially suitable for various oil drilling rigs such as ZJ70, ZJ50 and ZJ40, and can be used in conjunction with a closed drilling fluid circulation system.

The role of drilling fluid desilter

Drilling fluid plays a vital role in the drilling process. It is not only used to cool the drill bit, transport cuttings, control formation pressure, but also stabilize the borehole wall and reduce borehole collapse. However, drilling fluid is often polluted during use, and the main source of pollution is solid particles, which will enter the well together with the drilling fluid.

The pollution of solid particles will lead to the decline of drilling fluid performance, reduce drilling efficiency, and even damage drilling equipment. Therefore, in order to maintain the stability and performance of the drilling fluid, effective solids control equipment must be used to separate these particles. This is where the drilling fluid desilter plays an important role.

The working principle of the drilling fluid desilter is based on the principle of cyclone separation, using the rotational flow of the liquid in the cyclone to separate the solid phase particles under the action of centrifugal force and gravity. Coarse particles will spiral down and be discharged on the inner wall of the cyclone, while finer particles will spiral up along the cyclone for further purification treatment.
